PSA Super-Site Seminar July 21-22

Join us for the PSA Seminar July 21-22 in Independence which is being brought to Kansas City by the Midwest Figure Skating Council and PSA.

Janet Champion will be the guest coach and Lynn Goldman is the presenter representing U.S. Figure Skating officials. Janet is a member of the PSA Coaches Hall of Fame, coaches skaters from Learn to Skate through Olympians, and was one of the youngest touring professional skaters in history. She will be working with skaters on jump and spin techniques and will also be available for private lessons.

Lynn is a U.S. Figure Skating national singles and pairs judge, national singles technical controller, and national data and video operator. In addition, she is a longtime Skate Kansas City official.

With all the changes to the testing and competing structures that are happening within U.S. Figure skating right now, this is a great opportunity to learn and ask questions..

If you have any questions please feel free to contact the Kansas City FSC representatives to MWFSC; John Coughlin, Kathleen Ogren, or Suzy Shinn.

It's Membership Renewal Time!

It’s Membership Renewal Time!

The 2017-2018 skating season ended on June 30, which means it’s membership renewal time! Last year we introduced the KCFSC Membership Portal– this is where you can renew or purchase a KCFSC membership, update your account details (address, emails, phone, etc.), sign-up for volunteer opportunities or tests, and purchase KCFSC merchandise.

During the last month, all the volunteer hours have been entered for the 2017-2018 season – those families with at least 20 hours of volunteering (between 5/31/17 through 6/1/18) will be eligible for the $50 membership discount (if the renewal is completed by 6/30/18).  Discounts will automatically be applied for those who qualify. For details on the Volunteer Incentives program - be sure to read through these to see how to earn discounted memberships and/or competition stipends for the 2019-2020 season.

  1. Skaters – Any skater who has not renewed their membership by June 30, 2018, will not be allowed to test, compete, or participate in club activities until the renewal/signup is completed.
  2. Coaches, Officials and Board Members – All of these membership types need to be renewed and complete the necessary USFS requirements to in compliance with the USFS SafeSport policy by June 30, 2018.  Any coach, official or board member who have not completed the necessary requirements will not be allowed to participate in any club activities, club ice, test sessions, or at competitions until this is completed.

Skate KC Needs You!

Skate Kansas City is just around the corner! This is our club's biggest fundraiser, and we need your help! The competition will be held at Centerpoint Community Ice Rink in Independence, MO, April 12-15.

In order for the competition to run smoothly, many skater/parent volunteers are needed.  We need each family to volunteer for this competition. Any time you can give is greatly appreciated. Please sign-up here.

We are also in need of food donations and other supplies for our coaches and official’s hospitality room. To get credit for your volunteer hours, you will need to sign-in and sign-out at the Registration Desk when you arrive and leave. Please sign-up here.

No matter your talent, we have a job for you! We are looking forward to another fantastic competition this year and look forward to seeing you there, too!
